Obituary for Archie J. Noon

Archie J. Noon, age 100, entered into Heaven September 11, 2018. He was born July 8, 1918 in Detroit, son of Irish immigrants, Edward and Bridget Noon. In 1941 Archie was united in marriage to Margaret Henfrey at St. Dominic Parish in Detroit. Their marriage spanned 55 years and was blessed with six children. Margaret preceded him in death in 1995. Archie was a proud veteran serving in WWII as a Sergeant in the Army. He had a strong and abiding Catholic faith and was ordained Deacon in 1972 from Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit. Following his ordination, he served as Deacon at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snow in Milford and Divine Mercy in Davisburg. Throughout his entire adult life, Archie was always active. He could often be found running the trails at Kensington Metro Park or on the ski hills at Alpine Valley and Mt. Brighton. Archie ran in 12 marathons and became a Professional Ski Instructor in 1960. His catholic faith and physical fitness was a very important part of his daily life, but nothing was more dear to his heart than his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. His life was centered around God and his family and no matter where Archie was, he was almost always in the company of the family that he loved so much. He will always be loved and remembered by his loving children: Bridget (Ray) Taulbee, Erin (Paul) Ostin, Susan (Skip) Miller, Deidre (Ferril) McCarthy, Ned (Shelly) Noon, and Brian (Susan) Noon; his grandchildren: Erin (Nick) Kamenoff, Damian (Christine) Taulbee, Meagen (Scott) Vosburg, Deidre Boudreau, Zachary (Rita) Ostin, Eric Ostin, Angie (Jeff) Mohr, Nick (Christine) Sheffler, Matthew (Marla) Sheffler, Jason McCarthy, Margaret (Tom) Menard, Josh McCarthy, Ned (Marie) Noon, Kelly (Dwight) Heim, and Anthony Noon. Archie is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; his sister, Mary Connors; his nieces and nephews and his lifetime friends, Monsignor Robert Humitz and Marty Boyle. Archie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; and his sister, Eleaner Noon-Shefski on September 1, 2018. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16 from 3:00PM to 8:00PM with Scripture prayers at 7:00PM at PHILLIPS FUNERAL HOME, 122 West Lake St., South Lyon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 17 at 11:00AM instate 10:30AM at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Rd., Milford. Archie will be laid to rest beside his wife in St. Mary Cemetery in Milford. www.phillipsfuneral.com
