John A. Dropiewski, age 55, of South Lyon, passed away February 5, 2012. He was born on September 30, 1956, in Detroit, son of Clyde and Jo Ann Dropiewski. He was a dedicated and loving husband, son and brother. John was an inspiration to many. Even though John was physically challenged, he enjoyed camping, traveling with his wife and a full-time career. He will always be remembered as simply- a great man. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Deborah; his mother, Jo Ann Dropiewski and his brother Bruce (Karen) Dropiewski. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Amy, Angela, Justin, Ryan and his best friend, his Boston Terrier, Max. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister Claudia. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 10, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m.  at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 S. Lafayette, South Lyon. Mary Stephen, age 86, of South Lyon, passed away February 2, 2012. She was born on December 1, 1925 in Fraserburgh, Scotland, daughter of the late George and Mary Fraser. On January 19, 1949, Mary was united in marriage to James Stephen. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. She was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of South Lyon. She is survived by her beloved husband, James, her son James (Adrienne), Christine (Arthur) Schneider and Cora (Mark) Houghan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jamie (Sasha) Stephen, Adrienne (Kyle) Jones, Stephen, Tracie and Lauren Houghan and Rita Schneider.  She was preceded in death by one brother. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5th from 2:00pm-9:00pm at PHILLIPS FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Lake St. South Lyon. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 6th  at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church of South Lyon, 205 E. Lake St., South Lyon. Joseph Stanek, age 80, passed away, January 28, 2012. He is survived by his loving children: Dessa (Jim) Husek, Teala Wajda, Janis (Bill) Reid, Toshie (Tom) Descavish and Joseph Stanek Jr.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, one great grandchild expected in April; and his siblings: Rose Sibis, Margaret Dietz, Albert Stanek, Frank Stanek and Michael Stanek. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Toshie Troup, Helen Penrod, Pauline Xenedis and his former spouse Bertha. Lawrence J. Haas, age 93, passed away, January 26, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a proud WWII veteran; serving with the Army Air Corp. Lawrence was a Wing Commander and flew paratroopers into combat on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.  On August 2, 1942 while on leave from the Army Air Corp, Lawrence married Julia (Andreica) Haas. On August 2, they would have celebrated their 70th anniversary. He will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors. He is survived by his beloved wife Julia, his children, Daniel (Cindy), Carolyn Kay Haas, Michael (Debbie), and Thomas (Jackie). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his brothers, Ralph, James  and Fredrick Haas and his sister Marilyn DeHaan. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Cupples and Edith Kenyon. Pauline M. Nazimek, age 89, passed away January 23, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late Walter; cherished mother of Gloria Nazimek and Sharon (Leonard) Brannun; dearest grandmother of: Scott (Melissa) Nazimek, Amanda (Jason) Bobrovetski and Erica (Roger) Minton; loving great-grandmother of Houdini, Phoenix, Addison and Braden; also by her sister-in-law Bertha Lusczakoski; loving sister of the late Frank Lusczakoski and Genevive Butler.  Pauline will also be forever remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. LOUIS W. LANNING, age 86, passed away January 21, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 1, 1925, son of the late Louis and Dora Lanning. He was a proud Army veteran serving in the Pacific theater on Okinawa during WWII. He was a past commander and life member of the Northville VFW Post 4012. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret; his loving children: Chuck Lanning, Vicki (George) Daubresse, Bob Lanning, Kay (Mike) Cichon, Peggy (Marvin) Van Gorden, George Williams, Judy (Ken) Sweat, Mike (Dawn) Williams, Chris (JoAnn) Williams, Becky (John) Hall and Shawn (Suzette) Williams, He is also survived by his only surviving sibling, his sister, Ginny Lach and many loving  grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Don and his four sisters: Hazel, Loretta, Dorothy and Pauline. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. at PHILLIPS FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Lake St., South Lyon.
